The main objectives of the Physical Education program are to develop students who are willing to be active as participants and leaders in a wide variety of physical activities. This will be done through individual and team activities.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
-To develop and maintain appropriate fitness levels through active living.
-To develop in students an enthusiasm for their participation in a wide variety of sport experiences.
-To develop in students the social skills necessary for the participation in group activities such as dance, aerobics, educational gymnastics, etc .
-To develop in students skills and knowledge in the areas of outdoor experiences.
-To develop leadership in students.
-To have an appreciation and understanding about nutrition, weight training and fitness training
Expectations
Physical Education classes take place in a physical and socially interactive environment (gymnasium or outside) I hope that the PE experience will be a positive, enjoyable and educational for my students. The following four basic values will help you to become successful in class and in life.

I expect students to:

If you are sick or unable to participate in Physical Education class , please present the excuse/email from the parent/guardian at the beginning of the PE class. Student with medical excuse from a doctor will be excused from participating in PE classes for long term. Other wise, I expect all students to fully participate in PE classes to their best ability.
Proper Clothing
This is a very active course with a high level of participation level. All students are expected to be responsible to come prepared to each class wearing the proper gym attire that is within the our school’s dress code guidelines. The following are acceptable clothing for Physical Education.
Footwear: Athletic sneakers with a non-marking soles
Tops: T-shirts, long-sleeved tees, sweat tops,
Bottoms: Athletic shorts, sweatpants, track pants, or other exercise type pants/shorts
Assessment and Evaluation
Physical Education is a balanced educational program for the development of the physical, social and mental aspects of our students. The program follows our Provincial Educational GCO’s :
Knowing: Through participation in physical education activities, students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge of sport rules. training procedures and sport/game safety.
Doing: Through participation in physical education activities, students will attempt to accomplish the set outcomes for that class to the best of their abilities.
Valuing: Through participation in physical education activities, students will attempt to make appropriate choices and set goals for themselves
Assessment and evaluation of students will take place every class through informal observation, and at specific times throughout each unit. Each student will be assessed on the new Physical Education curricular outcomes, which were released in September 2015.
